As a High School Principal closing out on 47 years in education. I have seen a steady decline in reading fluency, critical and analytical thinking, life skills and behavior etiquette in a percentage of our youth. I have been able to individually help so many youth because I strongly believe in the “Find one, Teach one, philosophy. This is why I started the Coach Val Rhodes Youth Foundation, a grassroots, boots on the ground 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization operating with the mission to empower youth facing challenges in reading fluency, essential life skills and behavior etiquette.

We understand everyone wants to make a direct impact on young people, but due to busy schedules and other situations you are unable to do it. . Your charitable donation can play a pivotal role in helping us bridge these gaps and positively impact the lives of our students. A one time $50 donation will provide four (4), thirty-minute sessions with a youth. Our readings, life skills and behavior etiquette sessions are tiered and tailored to help our youth to be successful.

TESTIMONIALS

I’ve known Val Rhodes for a couple of decades now.  We met through a mutual friend when Val drew up some plays for my son’s youth basketball team, which I was coaching at the time.  Val and I have been in and out of touch since our children have grown up and moved out on their own, but we recently reconnected when I reached out to catch him up on current affairs.

During that conversation, I mentioned that I had recently remarried, and with that commitment, I had taken on the responsibility of helping my new wife with raising her niece, who unfortunately lost her mother tragically 6 years ago.  I shared that due to that traumatic experience, coupled with the pandemic, our niece had fallen behind on her reading advancement.

Enter Mr. Rhodes. Val offered to help us improve our niece’s reading skills through a new program he was in the process of developing. “Improve” is an understatement.  Our niece went from struggling to identify and pronounce simple words, to reading with full comprehension in a very short amount of time.  The transformation was amazing!  We saw improvement from the very first session!

From where our niece was a couple of months ago to now is astounding! I cannot thank my friend enough for offering to help and delivering on what he said he could do.
